if you have to choose one or the other then go with cubase but you could still do better than either one. Gotta say, i dont really like either of them, i think they're both buggy as all hell. So I wont tell you what it is, becuase I am sure that falls somewhere in their legal bollocks that I cant.īut I can tell you that its not very impressive and a lot of sonar users will be dissapointed.
Other beta testers who work for them as well feel the need to rat people out when they spot it. I wont though, becuase they lurk around forums and try to catch people talking about it. But this is what I noticed, I really think you would regret buying sonar.Īctually I could even tell you whats coming next from cakewalk, which I found out about on the beta team. I instantlly noticed a much smoother session, and was no longer scared of anything crashing. I installed it on the same pc, and figured I would give it a good breaking in with some hardcore trackage and automation. NOWWWW I moved onto cubase, and it just proved my point that sonar is crap. There was some, but still would never let me push things as hard as I wanted to.
Sonar did not show much improvment on my 2.6 pc then on the 1.8. I had 2 pcs at the time, one was a dual core 1.8 with 2 gigs of ram, that I used to mess around with sometimes, but mostly for games and porn.
And that was after doing a bunch of windows tweaks and watching to make sure I didnt push my dual core 2.6 with 3 gigs of ram ,to hard. Sonar honestly gave me constant audio dropouts and awful crashes all the time. Well thats becuase mixing a rock band consisting of 5 instuments and a singer is a bit different then 78 tracks of drum layers and automation. The answer is always somthing like this." I dont know what your doing wrong, sonar always runs fine for me" And always the questions are answered by a typical 50 year old guy.who has a picture of himself as his avatar, with dark glases and long hair and long beard. You can tell that most of these people needing help are younger producers. If you go to cakewalks forums, you will see so many questions about people having problems with it. The problem is, it cannot handle what most dnb producers want to do. The plug ins it comes with arent half bad, but not really amazing.
Sonar can make music, that is true, and will give you everything you need to make music. I used it for two years, and even was a beta tester for them at one point. Honestly and I tell you no lies.STAY AWAY FROM SONAR !!!!
